Present:  Dave and Carole Peebles, Judy Coleman, Peter Rabideau, O.K. and Tallulah Bryant, Ralph and Carol Stewart, Frank Golden, Shawnna Driskill, Chris Driskill, and Betty Gill

Discussion:

1.  The meeting was held at 6:30 p.m., May 5 at Little Dooey’s in Starkville. President, Dave Peebles, opened the meeting and announced several upcoming events.  Discussion followed.

2.  The club picnic will be Saturday, July 11, at 4:00 p.m. at the Stewart’s.  The club will provide the main dish and members are asked to bring side dishes or dessert.  Sign up will be posted later on the website along with directions to the Stewart’s.

3. Dave is working up an inventory of club equipment and he asked if anyone has any items to let him know so he can add it to the list.  Fees for other groups to use our equipment were discussed, and in addition to current fees for the clocks, a $50 fee will be charged for the new speaker system or $100 total for clocks and speakers.

4. The Tupelo Gum Tree run is May 9 and the two -day bike ride is  May 16 – 17. Lisa Landrum has the details on the bike ride for anyone interested.  The senior Olympics are May 14 – 16.  Judy mentioned that there is also a cross-country run in Ballard Park in Tupelo on May 16.

5.  Carole Peebles discussed the Johnny Cash 5K scheduled for Oct 17.  Since no one from the club volunteered to direct the race, she will direct it for the Lady Bulldogs who will get the proceeds.  The club could still assist and the possibility of the club receiving $1 per runner was discussed.   More details to come.  All agreed that it was a good race last year, and it will be left on our Grand Prix schedule.

6.  O.K. Bryant reported that the Pilgrimage 10K was very successful with 124 runners and the club made $2,350.  Market Street had a record number of runners this year with 162.  With that many runners, Len had asked if anyone has any suggestions on whether to move it to another location to let him know.  Most agreed that the Riverwalk was a good place to have it, but possibly the starting line could be moved and still use the Riverwalk for most of the race.  Let Len know if you have any suggestions.

7.  The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.  The next meeting will be June 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Tampico Bay on College Street in Columbus.
