Golden Triangle Running & Cycling Club Minutes - June 2009

The June meeting was held at Tampico Bay in Columbus on June 2, at 6:30 p.m.

Present: Dave and Carol Peebles, O.K. and Tallulah Bryant, Jennifer and Peter Rabideau, Judy Coleman, Tom Kennedy, Don and Andrea Zant, Jim and Brenda Pritchett, Ralph and Carole Stewart, Frank Golden, and Betty Gill

Discussion:

1. Upcoming Grand Prix races: Run with the King, June 6 in Tupelo and the Duathlon at Lake Lowndes, Aug 15.

2. O.K. Bryant reported on the 2-day bike ride in Georgia.

3. Several members attended the Senior Olympics held in May. There are many different events and abilities represented, and Dave encouraged members to participate.

4. The Market Street 5K will still be held on the Riverwalk, but possibly with a different starting point to give runners more room at the start. Contact Len if you have any suggestions.

5. There are bike rides offered in Starkville by The Bike Shop and Boardtown Bikes.

6. O.K. passed around information on biking jerseys with several patterns and colors to choose from. He will send out details by e-mail and anyone interested can vote for their choice and let him know if they would like to order a shirt. Cost will be approximately $75.

7. July’s GTRCC meeting will be the annual picnic on July 11 at the Stewart’s. Please e-mail or call Tallulah & let her know what you’re bringing and she’ll post a list on the website. The club is providing the meat with members bringing side dishes or dessert and drinks. All members are encouraged to come out and enjoy the picnic – we’ll eat at 6:30 p.m., but come anytime starting at 4:00 p.m. Ralph said everyone is welcome to fish in his pond if they’d like -- he even has the fishing poles!

8. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The next regular club meeting will be Aug 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Starkville (location to be announced later).
