Golden Triangle Running & Cycling Club Minutes - January 2009

Present: Dave Peebles, Tom Kennedy, Judy Coleman, Don Zant, Jennifer Rabideau, Peter Rabideau, Tom Dichiara and Betty Gill

The January meeting was held at 6:30 p.m., Jan 6, 2009 at MacAlister’s Deli in Starkville. Tom Kennedy, treasurer, gave an update on the budget. The club received $1,000 from the Johnny Cash Festival. Dave Peebles, President, discussed getting new brochures and it was agreed to order 200 brochures again this year.

Don Zant, Grand Prix/Race chairman, went over the tentative Grand Prix schedule. He had most of the new dates for 2009 and had researched several races to consider adding. It was agreed to keep most of the same ones and add the Tallahassee River Run in New Albany and possibly the Are You Tough Enough. Don will finalize the Grand Prix schedule, and it will be put in the newsletter and posted online.

We’ll try to schedule the long bike ride in the spring with the 50-mile ride in the fall. Dave asked for volunteers to help with the MUW Health Fair on Feb. 25. He also wants to get more guest speakers this year and Peter Rabideau, vice-president, will check with O.K. Bryant about doing a bike demonstration later in the spring.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The next meeting will be 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb 3, at Beans & Cream in Columbus.
